Is One Piece fully dubbed on Funimation?

One Piece is one of the most popular and longest running anime series of all time. The series follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew as they explore the vast ocean in search of the legendary treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.

With over 1000 episodes and counting, One Piece has amassed a huge global following since it first began airing in 1999. However, for fans living outside of Japan, subtitles were the only option to enjoy the series for many years.

The English dub of One Piece produced by Funimation has allowed the series to reach an even wider audience. But with so many episodes now available, a common question asked is: Is One Piece fully dubbed on Funimation?

Background on One Piece English Dub

Funimation first acquired the rights for an English dub of One Piece in 2007 and produced 104 dubbed episodes, before discontinuing it in 2008. At that time, the anime was still relatively early in its run in Japan.

In 2013, Funimation resumed the English dub from episode 1 and has continued to regularly release new dubbed episodes. Funimation utilizes their talent pool of voice actors at their Texas studio to produce the English dub.

Some of the key English voice cast for One Piece includes:

  • Monkey D. Luffy – Colleen Clinkenbeard
  • Roronoa Zoro – Christopher Sabat
  • Nami – Luci Christian
  • Usopp – Sonny Strait
  • Sanji – Eric Vale

Over the years, Funimation has continued to go back and dub the episodes from earlier sagas that were missed in their initial run.

How Many One Piece Episodes Are Not Dubbed by Funimation?

While Funimation has dubbed a significant portion of One Piece, there are still many episodes that remain undubbed:

  • Episodes 54-60 – Warship Island Arc
  • Episodes 76-77 – Ocean’s Dream Arc
  • Episodes 131-143 – Spa Island Arc
  • Episodes 196-206 – G8 Arc
  • Episodes 220-226 – Ocean’s Dream Arc
  • Episodes 326-336 – Ice Hunter Arc
  • Episodes 382-384 – Post-Enies Lobby Arc
  • Episodes 406-407 – Post-Enies Lobby Arc
  • Episodes 426-456 – Summit War Saga prelude
  • Episodes 517-578 – Fish-Man Island Saga beginning
  • Episodes 626-628 – Caesar Retrieval Arc

In total, there are around 300 episodes of the One Piece anime that remain undubbed by Funimation. The majority of these are standalone filler arcs or episodes before and in between the canon story arcs.

Some of the more substantial undubbed portions include the 30 episodes during the lead up to the Summit War Saga involving Luffy’s break-in of Impel Down. As well as over 50 episodes at the start of the Fish-Man Island saga after the timeskip.

Will Funimation Eventually Dub the Remaining Episodes?

Funimation has continued to go back and dub more of the earlier episodes of One Piece over time. So it is very likely they will eventually dub all the remaining episodes.

However, their priority is to keep up with dubbing the latest anime episodes being released every week. After that, they go back and work on any undubbed portions.

At their current pace of dubbing around 12-15 episodes weekly, it could still take Funimation over a year to dub everything. Fans hoping to watch the entire One Piece story dubbed from start to finish may need to wait a little longer.

Some good news is that Funimation has stated they do intend to dub the entire One Piece anime over time. So unlike the discontinued 4Kids dub, Funimation’s dub should eventually cover every arc.

Where to Watch Dubbed One Piece Episodes

Funimation currently has the exclusive rights for the One Piece English dub. New dubbed episodes are simulcast on Funimation and FunimationNow streaming services shortly after they air in Japan.

In addition, Funimation has released 38 volumes of One Piece Season sets on DVD and Blu-ray. These sets compile chunks of dubbed episodes together for fans who prefer physical media.

For those looking to stream the One Piece dub, Funimation or Crunchyroll are the only legal options currently available. Just keep in mind that only 758 episodes are dubbed so far.

Unfortunately sites like Netflix do not have the full dub available. So going directly Funimation is best for watching the English dubbed release.

Conclusion

In summary:

  • Funimation’s One Piece dub currently covers episodes 1-758.
  • Around 300 episodes remain undubbed, including certain filler arcs.
  • Funimation is committed to dubbing all of One Piece over time.
  • New dubbed episodes are released weekly on Funimation streaming.
  • Fans need to be patient for the entire dub, but it will come eventually!

So for now, fans of the One Piece dub still have plenty of great episodes to enjoy. And they can look forward to the day when the Straw Hats’ entire adventure is available fully in English!
