Colorado Road Trip

I embarked on a thrilling Colorado road trip adventure that kicked off and wrapped up in the vibrant city of Denver, affectionately known as the Mile High City. The radiant sunshine was just the beginning of my excitement to explore and take in all this hub had to offer. I was fortunate to share this journey with a talented group of friends – Craig Silva, aka Big Daddy Kreativ; Danielle Finestone from ToFoodies; Krystle Ng-A-Mann, the creative force behind Dine & Fash; and Raymond Christopher Cua, an intrepid traveler at Travelling Foodie.

Denver, the first stop on our journey, was a treat for the senses. We began our adventure in Union Station, a revitalized neighbourhood that underwent a stunning transformation between 2010 and 2014. The result is an eclectic mix of trendy restaurants, boutique hotels, and efficient transportation links that blend seamlessly into the modern landscape.Denver’s commitment to sustainability is another story altogether. This green city takes pride in its eco-friendly initiatives, showcasing sustainable practices like energy management and environmental stewardship throughout various neighbourhoods. The presence of green buildings and innovative projects is a testament to the city’s dedication to being a responsible member of the global community. Our experience with the Urban Denver City eTuk Tour was truly exceptional. This 100% electric tuk-tuk took us on a leisurely two-and-a-half-hour journey, uncovering hidden gems and sharing insider knowledge about the city’s best-kept secrets. Our knowledgeable guides made the tour an unforgettable experience, leaving me feeling like I had gained intimate familiarity with Denver’s intricacies. With so many exciting activities to explore, it’s no wonder that Denver has earned a special place in my heart.

River North Art District

The River North Art District’s (RiNo) vibrant spirit of creativity came alive on our tuk-tuk tour as we explored its signature graffiti street art area. While graffiti may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the striking murals and art pieces are undeniably a must-see. What sets RiNo apart is its approach to revitalizing historic warehouses and factories, choosing to preserve rather than demolish these structures. I found this refreshing and beautiful, a testament to the power of creative reuse. As we rode through the district, we passed by ‘I See What You Mean,’ a giant blue bear sculpture peeking into the Denver Convention Center’s lobby. A fan of public art, I was thrilled to encounter this iconic piece, a true gem not to be missed.

Where we Ate – Denver

While exploring the culinary scene in Denver, I discovered several eateries that left a lasting impression on me. Notably, for my fellow vegans and those with gluten intolerance, I highly recommend venturing to City O’ City – conveniently situated just a stone’s throw away from the ART, where I had the pleasure of staying.

We kicked off our epic Colorado road trip in the vibrant Mile High City, where we checked into the sleek Le Meridien Denver Downtown. The hotel’s contemporary vibe and creatively designed interiors left us impressed from start to finish. The main lobby is a showstopper, offering breathtaking views of the city’s skyline that will leave you breathless.

As our journey came full circle, we ended up at the ART, a luxury boutique hotel in Denver’s Cultural District. A mere 5-minute stroll from the Denver Art Museum, this hotel truly is an ARTful experience. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by Leo Villareal’s mesmerizing LED light installation, featuring 22,000 twinkling lights.

The hotel’s artistic flair extends to two galleries, hallway installations, and even guest rooms, all showcasing vibrant pieces by Odili Donald Odita. While Colorado’s cities are undeniably charming, it was the state’s natural beauty that truly piqued my interest before embarking on this adventure. With its awe-inspiring mountainous landscapes, alpine forests, and scenic vistas, I couldn’t wait to tick off more Colorado hotspots from my list.

Years passed, and his dream became a reality, making Chapel on the Rock a testament to perseverance and faith.

Our journey began with a staircase of 224 steps, which led us to the hiking trails and the stunning views that awaited. Halfway up, we caught our first glimpse of ‘Shorty Falls’, where the bravest of hikers can peer down into the falls’ depths. Reaching the top, we were rewarded with the opportunity to walk right up to Ramona Falls, basking in the golden sunlight that danced across its glistening surface. It was a photographer’s dream come true. After our hike, we explored The Broadmoor, an iconic Colorado Springs resort that has been offering guests an unforgettable experience of the American West for over a century.
