Who can use 3 types of Haki?

Haki is a mysterious power in the One Piece world that allows the user to sense and use their spiritual energy for various purposes. There are three main types of Haki – Observation Haki, Armament Haki, and Conqueror’s Haki. However, only a select few individuals have the ability to use all three types at an advanced level.

Observation Haki

Observation Haki, also known as Mantra, allows the user to sense the presence and emotions of others. It also allows the user to predict an opponent’s moves shortly before they make them, thereby making evasion much easier. This type of Haki can be trained and improved through concentration and meditation. Many characters in the One Piece world are capable of using basic Observation Haki, though few have mastered it.

Some examples of characters adept at using Observation Haki include Sanji, all members of the CP9 unit, Silvers Rayleigh, and the Marine Admirals. Luffy was able to learn the basics of Observation Haki during the timeskip under Rayleigh’s guidance. However, very few characters have demonstrated the ability to use advanced Observation Haki to its full potential in battle.

Armament Haki

Armament Haki, also known as Busoshoku Haki, allows the user to envelop body parts and even inanimate objects in a coat of invisible armor. This allows the user to defend against attacks that would otherwise cause harm and also significantly increases the offensive power of physical attacks. Armament Haki can also be used to touch the bodies of Logia devil fruit users, allowing the user to hit the real body beneath the elemental powers.

Many strong characters have demonstrated at least basic proficiency in Armament Haki, including the Straw Hat pirates, Silvers Rayleigh, Marine Admirals and Vice Admirals, Warlords of the Sea like Doflamingo, and major antagonists like Rob Lucci. Luffy learned to use Armament Haki during the timeskip under Rayleigh’s guidance. However, very few characters have truly mastered advanced Armament Haki techniques.

Conqueror’s Haki

Conqueror’s Haki, also known as Haoshoku Haki, is the rarest and most powerful type of Haki. It allows the user to exert their willpower over others to dominate them and render them unconscious. This type of Haki cannot be attained through training and only a select few individuals are born with the ability to use it. Conqueror’s Haki is said to be proof of qualities of a king or leader.

Very few characters in the entire One Piece series have been shown to possess Conqueror’s Haki, including Luffy, Shanks, Silvers Rayleigh, Boa Hancock, Donquixote Doflamingo, Charlotte Katakuri, and most recently Zoro. Non-canon characters like Gedatsu are also capable of using this type of Haki. Overall, it is extremely rare for any individual to have access to Conqueror’s Haki in the One Piece world.

Characters Who Can Use All 3 Types of Haki

Given how rare and difficult it is to master even one type of Haki, characters who can competently use all three types are exceptionally uncommon and are typically among the strongest few fighters in the One Piece world.

Based on the story so far, the characters confirmed to be able to effectively utilize all three types of Haki include:

Monkey D. Luffy

The protagonist of the One Piece series, Monkey D. Luffy initially showed no proficiency with Haki before the timeskip. After extensive training under Silvers Rayleigh, Luffy emerged capable of using all three types at an advanced level. He can use Observation Haki to anticipate and dodge attacks, envelope his body in Armament Haki to boost offense and defense, and unleash powerful bursts of Conqueror’s Haki to overwhelm enemies.

Silvers Rayleigh

The former first mate of the Roger Pirates known as the “Dark King”, Rayleigh has complete mastery over all three types of Haki. His Observation Haki allows him to read people’s movements and motives. His Armament Haki can defend against the strongest attacks and demolish enemies with heavy blows. Rayleigh also has extraordinarily powerful Conqueror’s Haki that can render a large group unconscious.

Shanks

The captain of the Red Hair Pirates and one of the Yonko, Shanks has incredible mastery over all three types of Haki. He is noted for his extremely powerful Conqueror’s Haki but has also demonstrated top-tier Observation and Armament Haki skills in combat. During the Paramount War, he blocked Akainu’s magma punch using Armament Haki and dodged another of his attacks using Observation Haki.

Edward Newgate “Whitebeard”

The former captain of the Whitebeard Pirates and world’s strongest pirate, Whitebeard was capable of using all three types of Haki before his death. He had exceptionally powerful Armament Haki that could destroy everything around him and could use Conqueror’s Haki to knock out people over a vast distance. He also displayed keen Observation Haki skills during the Marineford war.

Gol D. Roger

The late Pirate King and captain of the Roger Pirates, Gol D. Roger was confirmed to have possessed the ability to use all three types of Haki in the prime of his pirating days. As the man who reached Laugh Tale and united the Four Blues, Roger likely had tremendous mastery of Armament, Observation, and Conqueror’s Haki.

Kaido

The captain of the Beasts Pirates and one of the Four Emperors, Kaido has showcased his ability to use all three types of Haki. He coats himself in nearly impenetrable Armament Haki, has keen Observation Haki that allows him to perceive enemy actions and attacks, and can unleash Conqueror’s Haki blasts that instantly knock out thousands.

The captain of the Big Mom Pirates and one of the Four Emperors, Big Mom has demonstrated proficiency in all three types of Haki. She coats herself in Armament Haki to defend against even the strongest attacks, has impressive Observation Haki that allows her to react to enemy surprise attacks, and can knock out huge numbers with bursts of Conqueror’s Haki.

Donquixote Doflamingo

The former captain of the Donquixote Pirates and one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Doflamingo awakened the ability to use Conqueror’s Haki at a young age. He combined this rare Haki with formidable Armament Haki that could block attacks from Luffy’s Fourth Gear and advanced Observation Haki, making him a very dangerous opponent.

Marshall D. Teach “Blackbeard”

The captain of the Blackbeard Pirates who holds the power of two Devil Fruits, Blackbeard recently demonstrated the ability to use all three types of Haki. He enveloped himself in Armament Haki to block an attack from Catarina Devon, used Observation Haki to anticipate Ace’s movements, and unleashed a burst of Conqueror’s Haki at Marineford.

Charlotte Katakuri

The former Sweet Commander of the Big Mom Pirates, Katakuri had advanced Observation Haki that allowed him to see slightly into the future. He combined this with formidable Armament Haki that could defend against Gear Fourth attacks from Luffy and Conqueror’s Haki capable of knocking out weaker-willed enemies.

Roronoa Zoro

The Straw Hat Pirates swordsman, Zoro recently awakened the ability to use Conqueror’s Haki during his rooftop battle against Kaido and Big Mom. He already had excellent Armament Haki skills to enhance his sword techniques and competent Observation Haki. With the addition of Conqueror’s Haki, Zoro joins the very few who can use all three.

Other Rare Haki Users

While not confirmed to have full mastery over all three types, certain characters have showcased impressive capabilities with multiple types of Haki:

  • Trafalgar Law – Proficient Observation and Armament Haki user
  • Eustass Kid – Skilled with Armament and hinted Conqueror’s Haki
  • Sakazuki – Powerful Armament and Observation Haki capabilities
  • Borsalino – Highly adept with Observation and Armament Haki
  • Issho – Uses Observation Haki to compensate for blindness

Conclusion

Having full mastery of Observation, Armament, and Conqueror’s Haki typically indicates an individual of immense strength and willpower. For now, the characters confirmed to utilize all three Haki types effectively in combat include Luffy, Rayleigh, Shanks, Whitebeard, Roger, Kaido, Big Mom, Doflamingo, Blackbeard, Katakuri, and Zoro.
