Who has defeated Obito?

Obito Uchiha is an extremely powerful antagonist in the Naruto universe. With his Mangekyo Sharingan and control over the Ten Tails, he is a formidable opponent that very few have been able to defeat. In this article, we will explore the key battles where Obito was defeated and who was able to overpower him.

Kakashi Hatake

One of the first major defeats for Obito came at the hands of his former friend and ally, Kakashi Hatake. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kakashi and Obito faced off, with Obito controlling the power of the Ten Tails. However, Kakashi was able to analyze Obito’s abilities and devise a strategy, using his own Mangekyo Sharingan, along with support from Might Guy, to counter Obito’s attacks.

While initially evenly matched, Kakashi was eventually able to use his Lightning Blade to strike Obito through the heart. This caused the Ten Tails to be extracted from Obito, significantly weakening him. While Obito survived due to his life force being sustained by the First Hokage’s cells, this battle represented a major defeat that derailed many of Obito’s plans. Kakashi was able to out-strategize and exploit weaknesses in Obito’s technique, showing his growth from when they were comrades in the past.

Minato Namikaze

Years before his battle with Kakashi, one of Obito’s first major defeats came at the hands of Minato Namikaze. During the Nine-Tails attack on the Hidden Leaf Village orchestrated by Obito, Minato confronted him in battle.

Obito, using his Mangekyo Sharingan and control over the Nine-Tails, was able to go blow-for-blow with Minato. However, Minato’s Flying Thunder God Jutsu gave him the edge in speed and unpredictability. He was able to use this to teleport himself and the Nine-Tails outside the village, forcing Obito to retreat.

While unable to defeat Obito completely, Minato was able to foil his plan to destroy the Hidden Leaf Village. He also deduced Obito’s true identity, recognizing that he had inside knowledge only Kakashi’s former teammate would have. This battle demonstrated that even Obito’s immense powers could not overwhelm Minato’s skills.

Naruto Uzumaki

In the final climatic battles of the war, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha teamed up to defeat Obito once and for all. After becoming the Ten Tails Jinchuriki, Obito’s power reached immense levels beyond any one shinobi. However, Naruto and Sasuke together were able to match him.

Naruto’s use of Sage Mode and his mastery of Kurama’s chakra allowed him to trade blows with Obito, while Sasuke’s Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan granted him the ocular powers needed. Naruto was also able to sense and destroy the black receivers used by Obito to control the Ten tails.

With Obito’s control weakened, Naruto and Sasuke cooperated to seal both Obito and the Ten Tails, using the Six Paths Chibaku Tensei. This defeated Obito and broke his control over the tailed beasts permanently. Only Naruto’s growth into one of the most powerful shinobi could enable him to overcome Obito’s might.

Might Guy

While not defeating Obito single-handedly, Might Guy played a pivotal role in Kakashi’s victory over Obito during the war. As Obito gained more control over the Ten Tails, his powers continued growing to immense levels. He was able to neutralize the attacks of several powerful shinobi, including the five Kage.

Seeing the dire situation, Guy opened the eighth inner gate, the Gate of Death. This granted him power surpassing Kakashi’s, and he unleashed his most powerful attack, Night Guy. This catches Obito off guard and inflicts massive damage, cracking the protective shell around Obito and the Ten Tails.

This created the opening needed for Kakashi to land the decisive blow, at great cost to Guy who suffered life-threatening injuries. Guy’s raw power and willingness to sacrifice himself was instrumental in bringing down Obito’s strongest form.

Conclusion

Obito Uchiha proved to be one of the most formidable villains in the Shinobi world. His Mangekyo Sharingan abilities and eventual control over the Ten Tails made him overwhelmingly strong. Ultimately, it took the combined efforts of Naruto, Kakashi, Minato, Guy, and Sasuke across several separate battles to fully defeat Obito. Each were able to analyze and exploit small but critical weaknesses in Obito’s techniques at key times. Obito’s defeat was only possible due to the growth of several leaf shinobi into the strongest versions of themselves.
