Who has the Ten-Tails in Boruto?

Opening

The Ten-Tails is one of the most powerful tailed beasts in the Naruto universe. It was originally introduced in Naruto Shippuden as the combined form of all nine tailed beasts and served as a key part of the Akatsuki’s plan to take over the world. In Boruto, the Ten-Tails has yet to make a formal appearance, but there are some clues as to who may possess this fearsome creature.

What is the Ten-Tails?

The Ten-Tails (Jūbi) is considered to be the original tailed beast, from which all the others originated. It has unrivaled power, said to be capable of destroying the world on its own. The Ten-Tails was divided into the nine tailed beasts by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths, in order to protect the world from its immense strength.

Some key facts about the Ten-Tails:

  • It possesses massive chakra reserves, said to be near infinite.
  • It has immense physical strength and is incredibly durable.
  • It can fire concentrated chakra blasts of extreme potency.
  • It has rapid regeneration abilities, able to quickly heal damage.
  • When revived, it can create forests and flowering trees that sprout chakra fruit.

The Ten-Tails’ chakra was coveted by Akatsuki in Naruto Shippuden as a key part of their plans. When revived under Obito Uchiha’s control, it brought the ninja world to the brink of destruction before being stopped.

The Ten-Tails in Naruto Shippuden

In Naruto Shippuden, the revived Ten-Tails played a major antagonistic role under the control of Obito Uchiha and Madara Uchiha.

Obito managed to gather chakra from all nine tailed beasts and seal it inside the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. He then used the chakra to revive the Ten-Tails. However, Obito was unable to fully control the beast, requiring Madara’s help.

Once revived at its full power, the Ten-Tails went on a rampage before being contained by Hashirama Senju’s Wood Style jutsu. Obito then became its jinchuriki, gaining the ability to control it completely. The Allied Shinobi Forces desperately battled Obito and the Ten-Tails before Obito was able to initiate the Infinite Tsukuyomi, coming dangerously close to accomplishing his Eye of the Moon Plan.

The Ten-Tails was only stopped when it was pulled out of Obito’s body and sealed into a younger Madara Uchiha, who later absorbed the tree form of the beast to awaken the Rinne Sharingan and become its third jinchuriki. The tailed beast would remain sealed within Madara until their defeat by Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha.

So in summary, the Ten-Tails was mainly under the control of Obito and Madara Uchiha during the events of Naruto Shippuden as part of their plans to trap the world in the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Possibilities in Boruto

The Ten-Tails has yet to make a formal appearance in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. However, given its immense power, there are some key suspects who could be secretly in possession of the tailed beast:

Kara

The main antagonist group Kara is seeking out the tailed beasts for unknown reasons. It’s possible they have managed to obtain the Ten-Tails for their goals. We know that at minimum they were able to acquire some of Gyūki’s chakra, indicating they have methods to gather tailed beast chakra. Their leader, Jigen, has also demonstrated the ability to absorb chakra, potentially to add to his own reserves or transfer it to the Ten-Tails.

Amado

Amado was Kara’s head scientist and knows many of the group’s secrets. He may have crucial knowledge on whether they possess the Ten-Tails or where it is currently located. Since defecting to Konoha, Amado has provided key intel that has proven true. Any information he may have on Kara securing the Ten-Tails could shed light on who has the beast.

Ōtsutsuki Clan

The Ōtsutsuki clan’s goals involve harvesting chakra from the tailed beasts. It’s conceivable they could know where the Ten-Tails is sealed or have their own plans to revive it. For example, if any other Ōtsutsuki members know the ritual performed by Obito Uchiha to regenerate the Ten-Tails, they could potentially replicate it. The Ōtsutsuki clan remains shrouded in mystery, but their interest in tailed beasts keeps them suspects for possessing the Ten-Tails.

Unknown Rogue Factions

There may be other currently unknown rogue individuals or groups secretly hunting down the tailed beasts, including the Ten-Tails. During the Naruto era, several villainous factions vied for control over the tailed beasts, so new ones emerging in the Boruto timeline is certainly a possibility. A new possessesor of the Ten-Tails, either previously seen or yet to debut characters, can’t be ruled out.

Conclusion

The Ten-Tails has yet to directly appear in Boruto, but fans widely theorize its introduction is inevitable at some point. When and where it will show up remains a central mystery. The most likely suspects based on current information appear to be Kara, the Ōtsutsuki clan, Amado, or perhaps a new faction yet to be revealed. Its debut will no doubt serve as a climatic and powerful arc for the Boruto series. For now, the question of who specifically has the Ten-Tails remains unanswered but hotly debated among fans.
